When did the menopause narrative change so drastically?

Perimenopause and menopause occur for most women in a more complex world where we can feel overwhelmed with information and choices. And stress levels are at breaking point. Because our brains are highly sensitive to these situations, they flow through to our experience of symptoms and ability to cope.

When the conversation on menopause becomes polarised it harms, not helps, women. Because it causes more uncertainty and fear in an already uncertain world.

I want to be very clear that I am not anti-HRT. In fact, I'm a big supporter of women having choices and treatments that work.

What I find concerning is that the middle ground seems to be disappearing.

Menopause is not a linear experience, and treatment and support can't be linear. The menopausal experience is different for every woman, so support has to be built on a multi-pronged approach.

Every woman deserves options and choices that are not based on fear.

This week on @thrivingthrumenopause, I am joined by neuroscientist and psychologist Dr Delia McCabe to talk about stress, burnout and menopause.
